Nico O’Reilly One more assured display by the 20-year-old after his debut against Serbia. A teammate was unable to take the most of a clever touch behind their defense. The role is firmly his so soon. 7

The newcomer His maiden beginning with the national team. A bit sloppy in possession but his whipped set-pieces caused problems. A handy pace-controller for the boss to utilize versus sides that sit back. Booked for a rash challenge. 6/10

Declan Rice Set-pieces from corners and set-plays caused problems. Was given room to move on the left but was offside as the pass came with a chance to score. Granted a well-earned substitution around the 60-minute point. Six

The star midfielder Played in a forward spot down the right and also did plenty of dirty work. Showed moments of class but scuffed a shot wide. Substituted towards the end for a teammate, his rival, after receiving a caution. 7/10

The winger Was presented with England’s best chance of the first half, his strike smartly stopped by Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate staying deep, it fell to him to stretch the play on the right although his balls from the touchline were hit and miss. Substituted with 15 to go. 6/10

The captain The match-winner scoring seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth goals at international level. The opener a typical poacher’s finish while the second a superb header following a clever run away from the opposition. Now 32, he’s only getting better with the national team stand a real opportunity in the upcoming tournament with him up top. 8/10

The attacker Had difficulty to influence play from the left. Had a good opening following a pass by the midfielder but the keeper kept it out. Rashford had a greater effect in his place. 5
